Kate Kaufman is the most recent addition to our Management Team.
A Boulder native, Kate began hosting dinner parties for her neighbors at age 10. She made her foray into the restaurant business, at age 18, working for Lewis Hagler at The Boulder Burger Bar (now the Full Moon Grill). There, she learned first hand about the importance of high quality, organic food.
In 1997, she became the General Manager of Sean Kelly’s Aubergine Café, in Denver. During this time, the restaurant received 'Best Service' awards four years in a row from the all local metro publications. In 2000, Kate left Aubergine and opened up The Truffle Cheese & Exotic Foods Shop with her husband, David. Over the years, the shop has won numerous local awards and was recently named one of the ‘Top 20 Cheese Shops’ in the country by Saveur Magazine in 2005. They sold the shop in late 2006.
Kate Kaufman is the floor manager at The Kitchen. She supervises all wait staff and service personnel and assists in the planning and execution of all private parties and special events. Kate is also, as you can imagine, our resident cheese expert.
Says Kate of her culinary philosophy, “I truly believe that a good meal, served well can feed the soul, the body, and the mind while also enhancing the beauty of the world. When it is done in an eco-friendly way, it heals the world a little too.”
Kate lives with her husband David, in Erie. They have two children, Grant and Max.
